While viewed as strange by some, I indulge in moments of sadness(such as witnessing somebody perish in front of my eyes) and moments of extreme darkness(such as me killing somebody right before a persons eyes.) I can’t be the only person out their who savors somber moments as they provide so much inspiration to create even more somber moments. Let me explain. Today I met a new person named Anna on Skype. Her profile picture depicted only the side of her face and a vast lush green plane. Her quote right next to the picture was as follows;
“The sands of time, slipping through my fingers like little shards of memories, bound together by my thoughts, pained and strained till there are none, are gone before I can count them.”
Combined with her somewhat lonely profile picture and you have a somber moment. Now let’s try something new.
A video of Anna walking through this plane, taken at the same angle the picture was taken in. All the while, a voiceover of her repeating the quote plays while she is walking. After the quote is finished, the camera focuses behind Anna, which then reveals a never ending dirt path which she must brave all by her lonesome.
See what I mean? I love somber moments due to the creative applications of such moments. I search constantly for these moments, hoping each one will invoke a new level of sadness and tug at my heart in ways humans could only dream of. These emotions fuel my creative flames and I wish to share these experiences with the world(if the world was only Tumblr, I’d be perfectly content.)
